Featured Herbs
Comfrey: contains allantoin, which promotes cell regeneration and reduce inflammation
Mullein: pain relieving, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial
Arnica: pain relieving, anti-inflammatory, stimulates blood flow, speeds healing
How to Use
Massage into areas of pain from muscle or joint strain, pulling, or inflammation. Apply 2-3 times daily during the healing process.
Contraindications
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale): Care should be taken with very deep wounds, as external application of comfrey can cause tissue to form over the wound before it is healed deeper down, which can lead to abscess. Long-term studies with rats have demonstrated that the pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) in comfrey are hepatotoxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic. This herb must therefore be recognized as potentially genotoxic carcinogen in man. To minimize potential risk, lengthy internal use is discouraged. Only slight absorption occurs with external application.
Arnica (Arnica montana L): Arnica should only be taken topically. Do not take orally. Topical applications of arnica may cause skin irritation/allergy in some people. Patch test recommended.
Cypress (Cupressus): May cause skin irritation/allergy in some people. Patch test recommended.
